Who will be represented?

Dear Editor:

Time is quickly running out to apply for membership on the committee for the Park Master Plan.

Seven members from special interest groups will be appointed by city council.

Four members from the general public will be required to have no special interest. This effectively eliminates citizens concerned with  the environmental/ecological /conservation issues.

It eliminates early childhood development, senior wellness and youth mental wellness advocates. It also eliminates thousands of people who want our parks protected from development.

One of the mandates of this committee is to, “recommend rules and regulations concerning long term plans.”

To what end?

This city council wiped out 40-plus years of park planning with a  signature and now they want rules.
