Visitors like park, not Trio’s plan

Dear Editor:

A few weeks ago friends of ours from Abbotsford, along with their family from Germany, visited our lovely city. Our friends used to live here in the South Okanagan for a number of years prior to moving to the Lower Mainland. During their visit we thought it would be nice to get everybody together for a potluck in Skaha Lake Park.

All 27 of us had a fantastic time between the playground and the water-spray park. Our friends couldn’t believe when we told them what the “city fathers” had decided with this land. Everybody agreed that this oasis should be left as is. The water slides can be built somewhere else here in our city.

While we had our pot luck some other visitors from out-of-town were gathering there as well having picnics, playing games, and enjoying a warm, cozy summer evening in the park. We spoke with some visitors from Edmonton and they told us that they come here year after year and Skaha Lake Park is their favourite spot.

Save Skaha Lake Park for now and future generations!
