Council emerged from a closed-door session this morning and voted 6-1 in favour of moving forward with Trio Marine Group and its plans to build water slides and other amenities in Skaha Lake Park.
Coun. Campbell Watt was the lone vote in opposition, which he said was “based on legal issues” and concern in the community about the project.
A series of speakers then tore into council for its perceived failure to listen to those who have voiced concern about the park.
Council also heard that a new citizens’ group has been formed to fight against the water park, and will stage another rally outside City Hall on Aug. 4.
More to come.
