Troubled by boycott threats

Dear Editor:

I am a member of the Penticton Chamber of Commerce. I am also very much against putting a waterslide in Skaha Lake Park. I was never polled or asked my opinion by the Chamber. I think it would be a very interesting undertaking if a poll were taken including all the Chamber members, and the results published. I believe the results would be surprising. We all know where the Chamber president  stands on this issue, but not all its members.

I am troubled by recent letters asking people to boycott Chamber members and their businesses. This is definitely not the way to voice your opposition. We are all trying to make a living for our families and employ people in our community, and to boycott any local business effects us all negatively. It is a shame this issue has caused such a rift in our community, but remember we still are a community.
