Judgement and courage needed

Dear Editor:

To be an effective city council member I would think an important trait would be one of good judgement. Is it good judgement to give away valuable park land for a waterslide?

Is it good judgement to put paid parking meters on recreational beach sites affecting the locals and tourists negatively?

Is it good judgement to build a casino next to a recreation centre used by the youth of this city?

Another trait would be one of courage. Courage to make decisions but also the courage to amend those decisions when they prove to be unpopular with the majority of the popular.

Next civic election perhaps we need to be looking for those traits in the people that we vote for.
