Homes were expropriated

Dear Editor:

If Mayor Jakubeit and Council think that the waterslide issue in Skaha Lake Park will go away, they’re wrong.

I personally knew people who owned property beside Skaha Lake. Their property was expropriated by the City and subsequently sold to the City at fair market value. They were pleased it became part of Skaha Lake Park.

I feel we would be giving up on their memory to now have it leased for waterslides which are destined to fail. I don’t understand why the mayor and council are determined to destroy a beautiful park.

A referendum is the only way to solve this problem.
